What is the matter with mudulood?

By Abdulahi Mahamad

Much like the rest world I was troubled with the recent developments in Somalia,
particularly, the mudulood land. Unlike the concerns the western nations along the U.S.A.
raised, I have historically deeper concern.

As it turns out Islam has done the least harm, if any , to Somalis. It was and it will
be, rather, a tribal conflict for dominance which has ruined us through out generations.
Even, before independence, Somali tribes fought for territories of grass and water lands
to indiscriminate eradications. In order to get the upper hand, there were always, the
display of superb and dead tactics . The U. S. Delta force, I am sure would attest to
that Somalis--- well, Somalis are a force to be reckon with. Even, better, ask the Brits.
Remember, they refused to participate in Operation Restores Hope.

Now, keeping in mind the foregoing, let us consider how did the Mudulood fair in all of
these. Perhaps then, we would reasonable be able to predict the future as far as the
Mudulood is concerned. I know, I should be concerned for all Somalis and I am. However,
even the western world media seem to focus on the mudulood lately. So, as a person, who
belongs to Mudulood, I think, I am entitled to entertain my views- just my views.

For reasons too long to detail, the muduloods, in particular, the Abgals were always
feared by all who wished to have the upper hand in the Somali politics. Our (Mudulood)
sense of decency were utilized against us, till we realized it is too late. Remember,
Abdirashid Sharmarke? My Grandmother introduced him to me. Mr. Sharmake was in the middle
of the Bedgalka celebration for political purpose. Also, general Siad used one of our own
in order to be in power. Once, he got there, he told Gabayre- do as I say, or else. The
rest is --- well, history. Even, Ali Mahdi was deceived by Aideed in giving away a fair
share of our loot from the disbanding Somali army. Aideed used the "tactic"- my tribe is
being attacked in Galguduud, as a coumoflouqe.I don,t think, we have forgotten yet when
he used what we gave him to destroy us? Or have we??

I am afraid, we now have a similar motive, but different tactic. It is astonishingly,
called religion as though the Muduloods are infidels. Even, worse is fact that messengers
of the new religion is not only tribally based but a warlord who has been as brutal as
ours if not worse. I wonder, why we are accepting Indhacade as liberator? I understand,
we have had tough time with ours. However, the grass will not be greener on the other
side. How is it that theirs become heroes while our become villains? I suppose, we have
may heroes to be dispensed and humiliated for all to see. Hay, fair is fair. If
individuals are being made accountable to their actions, that is fine and dandy. But,
please don't tell me that your warlord is a hero and mine is villain. Unless of course,
one is borrowing the old colonial means in which the great human rights activist -
Desmond Tutu stated: "When the Missionaries come to Africa they had the Bible and we had
the land. They said "let us pray." We closed our eyes. When we opened them we had the
Bible and they had the land."

This brings me to the topic at issue,What is the matter with mudulood? When Indhacade
speaks at Balcad. When his spokesperson speaks at Jowhar, however, neither the Shariif nor
his spokesperson speaks at Afgioe, or Merca, aren't things smelling to the Heavens??
What is with that , Mudulood?
